Message from Head of Junior School

I really believe I have one of the best jobs in the world!  Every day, I get to walk around the Emmanuel College Junior School and see our students doing truly inspirational things. Whether they have incredible talents or hurdles to overcome, an examination of their lives makes me analyse my own life and wonder how much better I can be if I can show the same attributes.  After all it was Socrates who said, “a life not examined is not a life worth living”.

As a parent, I know how much we want the best for our children. At Emmanuel College we share that goal in seeking to give our students every available opportunity to excel.

If you visit our Junior School, you too will find a dynamic place full of happy children who are not only learning their academic subjects but are busy with sport, drama and music.

Our Junior School is made up of students in the Early Years (Prep - Year 2) and Junior Years (Years 3 - 6).

Curriculum in the Junior School is tailored to meet the needs of the students who are bursting with potential, creativity and imagination.  We have a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy and our academic results speak for themselves with our results substantially above national averages.

Our children learn in a well-resourced and technology-rich environment that aims to satisfy the variety of learning styles. Teachers are supported with programs designed for extending the gifted and consolidation for those that need extra help. Students who excel in their academic subjects are catered for in extension classes for mathematics, writing, reading, philosophy and drama.

Relationships between home and school are extremely important so we seek to create open lines of communication between parents and teachers via newsletters, information nights, student diaries, email access and regular parent interviews.

Our talented teachers work tremendously hard to create dynamic units of work that immerse our students in their learning.  They are supported with specialist teachers in a variety of areas that cater for their physical, emotional and learning needs.

Our overall feedback from parents and children suggests that it is a place where students love coming to school. Come along and see for yourself!
