Squad Training

Our Head Coach, Mr Andrew Hancock joins us from the University of Western Florida (USA) where he was Head Coach for five years.  During that time he was awarded “Conference Coach of the Year” 3 times.

Andrew has had a distinguished swimming and coaching career in the States over the last two decades and has returned home to Australia after leaving in his late teens to follow his swimming dream.  We welcome Andrew to our college and swimming community and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our community.

Andrew is supported by an outstanding group of coaches including:

Miss Christie Sofatzis

With a Bachelor of Sport Development, Christie is a national level swimmer who achieved a top 5 placing at the National Age Championships and top 20 in the Open National Championships in the 200m Butterfly.  Christie is passionate about ensuring our swimmers have a positive attitude toward swimming and training.  A qualified fitness and Bronze level coach, Christie’s experience both in and out of the water will be invaluable to our team.

Mr Sam Woodfield

Being a competitive swimmer himself, Sam is an avid sportsman who understands the training needs of all swimmers and strives to get the best results for each swimmer. Currently studying at University, Sam continues to give back to his swimming community by coaching the junior squad swimmers and helping out with the Learn to Swim instruction.  Sam has represented the State for swimming and is a qualified Bronze coach.

NB: All of our squad swimmers must be registered with our Emmanuel College Swimming Club. Registration forms are available online at www.emmanuelswimming.org.au
