What an exhilarating night our Film & TV students had at the prestigious Bond University Film and Television Awards (BUFTA) 2024. Walking away with the Best Director, Best documentary, Best Overall Filmmaker, Best Sport Film, Gold Coast Filmmaker of the Year along with numerous other nomindations, it certainly was a night to celebrate.
Competing against approximately 300 entrants from schools across Australia, our students achieved outstanding results in one of the nation’s premier youth film competitions.The competition was narrowed down to the Top 45, and then further refined to the Top 27 finalists, who were invited to attend the awards ceremony.
Highlights of the evening included: (Reverting to this style) Using H6 as an example
- Abigail Knight: Winner of Best Director, Best Documentary, and the coveted title of Best Overall Filmmaker, earning her a full scholarship to Bond University to study film, valued at an incredible $107,000.
- Ben Ward: Winner of Best Sport Film and Gold Coast Filmmaker of the Year, along with a nomination for Best Overall Filmmaker.
- Ryan Cruickshank: Nominated for Best Comedy and ranked among the Top 27 finalists.
- Nathan Brown: Achieved an impressive feat by making it into the Top 45 finalists.
These incredible achievements reflect the passion, talent, and hard work of our students, as well as the encouragement and support from the Emmanuel College community. Congratulations to all participants and winners for making us proud on this national stage!
