The Whole Person

Academics

  • Consistently one of Queensland's top achieving schools with NAPLAN and OP results significantly above state averages and national benchmarks
  • Students at Emmanuel consistently achieve high standards in their academic work, whether in their final OP, or in NAPLAN tests, or in competitions of various kinds. Much more important to us, however, is the very large number who improve their results when they come to us from other schools.
  • There are many reasons for this improvement. Some put it down to the quiet, focussed tone of our classrooms, or the dedication and quality of teaching staff, or to the expectations that the College puts on students to achieve their personal best. When you set a benchmark, students will generally reach it, even if they have to lift their performance from what they have previously delivered.
  • No school can guarantee a particular student's final results - but what we do aim for in our culture is that each student will achieve their very best. Most of them do that, while also enjoying sport, music and a host of other activities.

Sport

  • Emmanuel College enjoys a reputation as offering one of the best school-based sporting programs in the region, through our APS membership
  • We offer a full range of traditional sports, complemented by high quality sports facilities, a strong coaching program, weekly interschool fixtures and comprehensive participation.
  • Last year, over 100 students attended Queensland Carnivals as part of regional teams and over 26 students went on to make representative teams at either Queensland or Australian level. Results indicate our all-inclusive school swimming and athletics programs are equal to the best in the region. These programs are headed up by Internationally renowned Coach, Mr Andrew Hancock and Level 4 International Athletics Coach, Mr David Reid.

Creative Arts

  • A vibrant department encompassing Music, Drama, Dance and Visual Art
  • Emmanuel boasts a comprehensive tuition program including instrumental and speech and drama tuition from some of Australia's leading musicians and educators.
  • Students from Prep to Year 12 are enthusiastically engaged in the many programs on offer at Emmanuel College. We have a comprehensive schedule which includes bands, orchestras, small ensembles, choirs, drama clubs and a Dance Academy offering specialised ballet, tap and jazz.
  • Performances at Emmanuel College engage our students in concerts, musicals, eisteddfods, dramas and the production of CDs and DVDs.

The Whole Person

  • Emmanuel College believes that education ought not to be limited to questions of employability and economic productivity.
  • We prefer to graduate real people, who have thought about core human questions such as: Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? How do I know what is right?
  • Our commitment to this goal is expressed in our careful formulation of our Ideal Emmanuel Graduate:
A compassionate human being, unafraid to be, highly competent and willing to navigate life using their moral compass to make wise and just choices; a strategic participant in a global setting, a person of faith and integrity, aware of an eternal destiny.

To achieve this goal, we will educate your child's whole being, through an organised program of Chapel services, Christian Education classes and Service opportunities where students volunteer to serve in communities throughout Australia and internationally. We live out the model of Christian discipleship in practical service for others and our students apply the reality of our College moto: Knowing Loving Serving.
