Some opportunities, like the Junior School FRIENDS program are woven into the curriculum whilst others like the Year 8 Compass, the Year 9 Response, the Year 10 Journey and the Year 11 Mentoring programs are voluntary. They are all, if I’m honest, quite remarkable. These programs are an integral part of the education on offer here, and I would encourage you to talk to your children about joining in.

Athletics Update

The Australian Schools Athletics Championships took place in Canberra at the start of the school holidays. Emmanuel had three representatives who had made the Queensland team, all in the U16 girl’s age group.

Emily Casaclang finished an excellent second in the girl’s 2000m steeplechase in 7.08.87 to claim an individual silver medal.

Justine Ramsay finished third in a new personal best of 24.77 seconds in the 200m to claim bronze. Justine went on to run a great leg as part of the Queensland relay team helping her teammates to second place.

Bronte Hodgkinson finished 11th in the hammer competition in a new personal best of 37.06.

Our triathletes have been in equally impressive form in the first two rounds of the Australian Sprint Triathlon Championships held at Runaway Bay and Robina. Current results after these two rounds are:

                               Round 1       Round 2
Tara Sosinski           1st                  2nd
Lachlan Sosinski     4th                 2nd
Bianca Jones          4th                 DNC - Injured
Lachlan Jones        9th                  7th
Jack Sosinski         14th                 8th

To have 5 Emmanuel athletes in the top 15 at an Australian Title is just outstanding. Well done to all. Best wishes for the next two rounds being held in Adelaide and Perth over the next month.
