Congratulations to Bailey Armstrong (Year 12) for his outstanding effort in placing 4th at the FINA Junior World Open Water Swimming Championships in the Netherlands last week.
It was truly an outstanding effort by Bailey to place so highly at his first Junior World Champs in a field of around 50 swimmers. The last 500m of the 7.5km swim was apparently a real physical dogfight as Bailey and two Americans fought over every inch of territory. With just 3 seconds separating 2nd to 4th place, Bailey was disappointed not to have medalled, but he can be super proud of an effort that hopefully becomes the launching pad for a long adult career. Well done Bailey.
