Some opportunities, like the Junior School FRIENDS program are woven into the curriculum whilst others like the Year 8 Compass, the Year 9 Response, the Year 10 Journey and the Year 11 Mentoring programs are voluntary. They are all, if I’m honest, quite remarkable. These programs are an integral part of the education on offer here, and I would encourage you to talk to your children about joining in.

Emmanuel College is one of the few schools in Queensland to employ a full-time Level 4 coach with a team of younger coaches working under his direction.

Our program is headed up by Mr David Reid, who has a unique and outstanding resume of athletic coaching expertise from school level through to world events across multiple athletics disciplines. David's breadth and depth of experience, coupled with his youthful exuberance, appeals to students and coaches alike.

Some of David’s career highlights include:

•        Represented Northern Ireland as a middle distance runner

•        Level 4 British Athletics Coach – Sprints.  He has coached Athletes to Commonwealth Games semis and finals.

•        Coached Ireland’s fastest female sprinter

•        Formerly Northern Ireland’s High Performance Athletics Coaching Manager for five years

In 2015, Emmanuel’s U15 Girls Athletics team won the Australian Schools Knockout Championship. This was the second time in the school’s history, after claiming the Senior Girls Australian Title in 2012.

2015 results also suggest the school was the premier Cross Country school in Queensland with multiple team Gold and Silver medals across many age divisions. The school was also placed 1st for Boys and runner’s up for Girls in the State teams championship. The boys went on to place 3rd at the Australian Schools Championship.
