Principal's Message

Some opportunities, like the Junior School FRIENDS program are woven into the curriculum whilst others like the Year 8 Compass, the Year 9 Response, the Year 10 Journey and the Year 11 Mentoring programs are voluntary. They are all, if I’m honest, quite remarkable. These programs are an integral part of the education on offer here, and I would encourage you to talk to your children about joining in.

Music

Emmanuel College administers a specialised co-curricular music program which provides music tuition outside of the regular Emmanuel College music curriculum. The Program is made available across both the Junior and Senior school.

The Co-curricular music program is designed to compliment and provide a total education through:

  •  achieving new skills and the positive effects this has on the individual
  •  active involvement in the arts with other students and the positive social interactions this involves
  •  worthwhile educational activities at school and within the community through performance opportunities and examinations

In order to achieve excellent results in the study of a musical instrument, Individual tuition is a much more beneficial option than Paired or Group tuition. If you wish your student to sit instrument exams eg. AMEB, Trinity or Music extension, it is essential that they receive individual tuition.

Our Co-Curricular Music Program offers private tuition in the following fields:

  • Cello
  • Clarinet
  • Drum Kit
  • Electric Bass
  • Flute
  • Guitar
  • Percussion
  • Piano
  • Saxophone
  • Trombone
  • Trumpet
  • Viola
  • Violin
  • Voice

Examinations and Competitions

This year, Emmanuel College had 32 entries in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod which was held in August 2014. Entrants include trios, quartets, larger ensembles, orchestras and choirs and we had excellent results.

Students are given the opportunity to sit music examinations either through the AMEB or Trinity guild.
If students wish to sit an exam, this can all be organised by talking with their tutor who will arrangements for the same. AMEB examinations are usually held on the Gold Coast in July and October – November.
Trinity Guild exams are held at various times during the year which tutors will advise of at the time of entry.

Further information regarding the same can be sought at:
