Emmanuel WINS First Place in the Open Category at ICT Competition

On Saturday 27 August, eight Emmanuel College students spent a day at UQ for the 2016 Young ICT Explorers competition. One of our teams which consisted of Ben Gonzalez, Joseph You, Jonluca Percuoco and Kealy Collins was awarded first place in the Open category for their Water Testing and Purification device. Not only is this a great achievement in itself, however the fact that their project had a real humanitarian purpose in its ability to assist with water purification in countries where it may previously not have been possible.

Over 400 students from 34 schools in South East Queensland produced 144 projects in this competition. We are very proud of this achievement as the students had to impress two panels of judges made up of industry and academia experts. They presented themselves and Emmanuel College so well that their conduct and work was also acknowledged.

Our students will receive a 3-month internship with SAP, the third largest software company in the world (after Microsoft and Oracle). Congratulations to all eight students and their teacher, Mr Jacob George!

This team of ICT students was also recently mentioned in the local Friday Flyer. You can read the full article here.
