He impressed audiences as the narrator in Emmanuel’s production of Peter Pan last term and now Year 11 student, Matthew Bengtson has made his mark in wider theatrical circles by winning a prestigious Barbara Sisley Award.
The Barbara Sisley awards are presented annually by the Queensland Communication, Speech and Performance Teachers Association to recognise the State’s highest achievers in Trinity Guildhall and AMEB exams.
With an excellent exam result of 95%, Matthew won the award for highest marks in Queensland for Grade 6 Trinity Guildhall Solo Speech and Drama. This year was a special celebration as it was the 70th anniversary of the Barbara Sisley Awards.
Matthew was privileged to receive his award from His Excellency the Honourable Paul De Jersey AC, Governor of Queensland. Matthew joined other awardees in performing for the Governor, and made a real splash with his performance of The Bath, a comic poem by Harry Graham.
