Earlier this year we were successful in receiving a Telstra Kids Grant for us to use in the installation of a herb and veggie garden. After a few months of planning, our garden beds came to life and will now be used to teach children how to look after seedlings, use herbs and flowers as “companion plants”, and then ultimately either cook or use what is grown to create something to eat.
We are very thankful to Tony Marlton from Zoomgarden who donated many of the seedlings and to the Alford family who provided the mushroom compost and sugar cane mulch. Thanks too to everyone at Life’s Crate (www.lifescrate.com.au) for the raised herb and veggie garden adjacent to our chooks.
It was a fun afternoon of getting hands dirty.
