Some opportunities, like the Junior School FRIENDS program are woven into the curriculum whilst others like the Year 8 Compass, the Year 9 Response, the Year 10 Journey and the Year 11 Mentoring programs are voluntary. Emmanuel Alumni establish and gain support for Queensland's only Children's Hospice

We are extremely proud of two of our Emmanuel Alumni, Gabrielle Quilliam and Rachel Clune (both class of ’91) who have been instrumental in setting up and gaining support for Queensland’s only children’s hospice, Hummingbird House.

There are only 2 other hospice facilities in Australia and approximately 3700 families are in need of this service in Queensland which is designed to support children and families affected by life limiting conditions, provide respite and end of life care.

This is a remarkable project which is now under construction in Chermside, Brisbane and the first family is due to move in at the end of this year. Prime Minister Tony Abbott turned the first sod for the building in March and has committed considerable National Funding to make this Hospice a reality.

In addition, they have managed to gain the support of Coles, who has jumped on board and is selling merchandise throughout September, to support this great cause. If you would like to support this campaign, you can purchase $2 tokens, pens, caps and merchandise from any Coles store in Queensland.
