Principal's Message

Some opportunities, like the Junior School FRIENDS program are woven into the curriculum whilst others like the Year 8 Compass, the Year 9 Response, the Year 10 Journey and the Year 11 Mentoring programs are voluntary. They are all, if I’m honest, quite remarkable. These programs are an integral part of the education on offer here, and I would encourage you to talk to your children about joining in.

A musical journey shared via advanced digital resources

On Wednesday 29 October, our Head of Junior Music, Mr Trevor Kraak, took our Junior School students on a musical journey into the world of Peter and the Wolf (by Sergei Prokofiev). Utilising the Theatre and the Senior Wind Symphony, along with a performance of Peter and the Wolf by a number of Year 6 students, the production brought to life the instruments and the characters they represented.

Under the federal government’s TtEDSC (Transforming the Education Digital Supply Chain) program, Emmanuel was able to share this performance with other independent schools across the country via a high-definition video link.

Throughout the three performances, we were joined by students from The Glennie School (Toowoomba, QLD), Montgrove College (Sydney, NSW) and Tatachilla Lutheran College (McLaren Vale, SA), who were then able to engage in a Q&A session at the end of each performance, much to the delight of students and staff at both ends of the video link.

It was a great opportunity to share the wonderful work being done at Emmanuel. The equipment and infrastructure that’s now available to Emmanuel under the TtEDSC program also gives the students access to a vast range of exciting digital resources, including video conference facilities and virtual excursions, presenting opportunities for further collaboration and engagement to support the learning process.
