A group of 34 Year 10, 11 and 12 students and 5 teachers visited Dalby and Chinchilla Christian Schools in the September holidays.
We were involved in student activities on the first day of our visit which included reading, leading class activities and devotions, participating in and leading worship in School Chapel services. We also assisted with an end-of-term BBQ and Pizza distribution. Our cherished ConnECt relationships with these schools go back many years and every year, our students discover that they benefit from these interactions just as much as others may benefit from our involvement with their communities.
On Saturday 20 September, a number of our students assisted as we do annually with setting up for the holiday Bible Club at Dalby Presbyterian Church, others gave the Bethel facility a spring-clean and the rest of the group lifted and relocated pavers at the Christian School amongst other tasks. We enjoyed the combined Dalby Churches BBQ-in-the-park on Saturday evening and forged new friendships.
On Sunday morning, we worshipped at three different Churches and the whole group then spent the rest of the day on a farm, including a walk in the rain, and we were then treated to stew cooked on the fire and the damper and syrup afterwards was delicious.
The 2014 Dalby/Chinchilla ConnECt team enjoyed a wonderful experience and the warm hospitality of our long-standing and new friends in that area. The staff that attended appreciated the wonderful way in which all members of the group contributed to an effective, hard-working and fun-loving team and we are sure that many delightful memories are the result. We can testify that serving others contributes to our growth on our Spiritual journeys and we pray that our service has honoured the Lord both in our lives and in those with whom we interacted.
