Emmanuel College administers a specialised Co-curricular Program which provides music, drama and dance tuition outside of the regular Emmanuel College Arts Curriculum. The Program is made available across both the Junior and Senior school.
The Co-curricular music program is designed to complement and provide a total education through:
- Achieving new skills and the positive effects this has on the individual
- Active involvement in the arts with other students and the positive social interactions this involves
- Worthwhile educational activities at school and within the community through performance opportunities and examinations.
We have various different Music Programs offering private tuition:
Instrumental and Voice
- Drum Kit
- Electric Bass
- Clarinet - Bass
- Double Bass
- French Horn
- Saxophone - Baritone
Examinations and Competitions
This year, Emmanuel College had 32 entries in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. Entrants include trios, quartets, larger ensembles, orchestras and choirs and we had excellent results.
Students are given the opportunity to sit music examinations either through the AMEB or Trinity guild.
If students wish to sit an exam, this can all be organised by talking with their tutor who will arrangements for the same. AMEB examinations are usually held on the Gold Coast in July and October – November.
Trinity Guild exams are held at various times during the year which tutors will advise of at the time of entry.

Emmanuel College administers a specialised co-curricular Speech and Drama program. Speech and Drama is a hugely beneficial, enjoyable and creative avenue for learning.
Our Speech and Drama program aims to:
- Build confidence and self-esteem
- Develop confident speakers and performers
- Encourage an appreciation and love of literature and wide variety of dramatic genres
- Develop an understanding of stagecraft
- Provide regular performance opportunities
- Provide opportunities to participate in examinations and competitions (Eisteddfod and Solo Acts)
- Support and enhance academic oral presentation
Emmanuel College co-curricular Speech and Drama students have the opportunity to participate in studies in the following areas:
- Public speaking
- Effective reading
- Critical listening
- Prose, poetry and drama
- Voice Production (articulation, projection etc)
- Choral Verse Speaking
Students of Speech and Drama have the opportunity to sit examinations with either Trinity Guildhall or AMEB (Australian Music Examinations Board). Exams are optional and provide a portfolio of examinations at Grade, Certificate and Diploma levels. Exams provide students with challenges and goals to work towards. All assessment and written evaluation is administered by qualified and experienced examiners.

Emmanuel Dance Academy
Emmanuel College offers an extensive co-curricular dance program via the Emmanuel Dance Academy. The Emmanuel Dance Academy is a fully-functional dance school, offering programs to maximise skill development and a love and passion for all styles of dance, including:
- Classical Ballet
- Theatrical and Broadway Jazz
Approximately 200 students currently participate in over 30 classes a week, from Kindergarten level through to advanced students.
Dance students have opportunities to dance in various performances throughout the year, including our wonderful end of year concert, showcasing the students’ hard word.
Competitions and annual ballet and tap examinations are also offered to students who attend specific classes.
