Principal's Message

Some opportunities, like the Junior School FRIENDS program are woven into the curriculum whilst others like the Year 8 Compass, the Year 9 Response, the Year 10 Journey and the Year 11 Mentoring programs are voluntary. They are all, if I’m honest, quite remarkable. These programs are an integral part of the education on offer here, and I would encourage you to talk to your children about joining in.

Primary Netball Success

Congratulations to the Yr 6 Netball team on an outstanding performance at the Qld Primary Netball Championships at Maroochydore at the start of the holidays. The girls finished ranked 9th of 130 teams after a very impressive display. They won 8 games, had 1 draw and only 1 narrow loss to clearly deserve their ranking. An ounce of luck in how the draw was configured would certainly have seen us as at least semi-finalists. A big thanks to our Head Netball Coach Mrs Vicki Hardin for turning out such a well drilled team. Our Yr 5 girls also attended as a developmental exercise and although they found the going tough, by the end of the weekend were a much improved team. Well done to all concerned.

Open Boys Basketball Report:

Congratulations to our Open Boys Basketball team who competed at the Qld Schools Championships at Beenleigh at the start of the holidays. After 4 days of competition they finished up ranked 5th of the 24 teams in Divisions 4 which was a strong effort. They had 6 wins and just 2 losses which is reward for the hard work put in by the boys and coach Mr McLeod in the tournament lead up. Well done boys.

Athletics Success

Congratulations to our Athletes for their outstanding results at the South Coast Regional Trials over the last two days. Our students achieved some of their best results ever.  We had 14 Regional Champions who between them won 18 events. Alongside this were 18 second places and 8 thirds. Subsequently, we are looking at over 30 athletes gaining selection in the South Coast Regional team, which is an exceptional high percentage of the 48 athletes who represented Emmanuel.
A huge thanks and congratulations to Head Coach Mr David Reid whose international level of expertise, has added a whole new dimension to what was already one of the better programs on the Gold Coast.
